Polished stone on every surface makes lapis lazuli boxes some of the most striking objects we produce in our Santiago workshop. Each box is built by hand, with slabs of natural stone cut, matched and fitted so the pattern flows across the lid and sides.
Within our home and office decor, the boxes cover several uses. The lapis lazuli and silver frame vanity jewelry box keeps rings, earrings and necklaces on a dressing table, while the lapis lazuli and sterling silver mounted cigar box is designed for a study or a gentleman’s desk. For those who love green as much as blue, there is a square malachite box, and a malachite and sterling silver box made as a special order.
A stone box is both storage and decoration: it can hold keepsakes, cufflinks, watches or letters, and it looks beautiful even when closed. It also makes a memorable gift for an anniversary, a wedding or a retirement, one that will be kept and passed down.
Because every stone is natural, each box shows its own variations in blue, white calcite veining and golden pyrite flecks, so no two are the same. Most of our lapis comes from Chile’s mine in the Andes, and we also work with Afghan lapis. Lapis Lazuli World has been a family workshop since 1972, and we make our lapis lazuli boxes ourselves, without middlemen.
