The Diaguitas lived in northern Chile, in today’s Atacama and Coquimbo regions, and were accomplished artists, known especially for their metalwork and ceramics. Their pottery was decorated with striking geometric patterns, and although their way of life was largely destroyed after the Spanish arrived in South America, their art still inspires. Our artisans in Santiago reinterpret those motifs by inlaying lapis lazuli into silver in precise sections.
The earrings come in two main styles. Post or clip earrings, in rectangular, oval and round shapes, sit close to the ear and can be ordered for pierced or unpierced ears. Hanging earrings offer more movement and come in rectangular, oval, round, triangular and square versions, as well as the Nenusca and Barbara designs.
