Description

Our Eye of Horus lapis lazuli charm brings one of ancient Egypt’s best-known symbols to life. It shows the highly stylized eye of Horus, the falcon-headed god of the sun and sky. Horus is the Latin version of the name Hor.

In Egyptian tradition, the eye is associated with regeneration, health and prosperity. Egyptians also called it the udjat or utchat eye, which means “sound eye.” In modern times, the symbol has also become popular in esoteric and occult traditions.

The udjat shows a human eye and eyebrow, as if it looks straight at a person. It also carries the markings that decorate a hawk’s eye. Usually the right eye appears as the udjat, although the left also appears quite often.

This is probably because of another myth, in which the sun and moon were the right and left eyes of the sky god. Because people saw the sun as more powerful, the right eye became more common.

We craft the charm in solid 950 sterling silver, then inlay it with lapis lazuli, turquoise and obsidian. At 1.25 inches wide by 1 inch tall, the Eye of Horus lapis lazuli charm is a sizable pendant that reads clearly on a chain. Do you want to learn more about this symbol’s composition?
