Our nefertiti lapis lazuli vermeil set is based on a museum piece and draws on the jewelry of ancient Egypt. According to tradition, Queen Nefertiti favored lapis lazuli for the strength she believed the stone imparted.
The design alternates double vermeil capped lapis lazuli beads with 10 mm lapis lazuli tubes. So the deep blue stone and the warm gold tones repeat in a steady rhythm, much like the bead collars seen in Egyptian art. Vermeil toggle clasps close both the necklace and the bracelet, which keeps the gold theme consistent.
The set includes a necklace, a bracelet and a pair of earrings. The necklace measures 17 inches, so it rests near the collarbone. The bracelet measures 7 1/2 inches, and the earrings fall 1.5 inches long.
