Sterling Silver and Lapis Lazuli Mosaic Cross

Rich in colour and pattern, this lapis lazuli mosaic cross is handcrafted in sterling silver with inlaid lapis lazuli. The chain passes through an opening on the upper part of the cross, so it hangs without the need for a bail.

Lapis Lazuli World artisans in Chile cut the stone by hand and set it within the silver so the surface reads like a small mosaic. Lapis lazuli has been prized since antiquity in Egypt and Mesopotamia, and its ultramarine pigment coloured the skies of Renaissance frescoes and altarpieces. The bail-free design keeps the outline of the cross clean and uninterrupted, so the inlaid stone remains the focus.
