Lapis lazuli was ground into genuine ultramarine by Renaissance painters, who reserved it for their most precious details. This sampler gives artists, conservators and makers the chance to work with that historic, deeply saturated blue. Pair it with the standard and superior samplers to compare all three grades side by side.
All our lapis lazuli is of exceptional grade and completely natural. We are one of the few jewelers who never use synthetic stones and never dye our lapis to mask poor quality – practices that are all too common, as much of the lapis lazuli sold today is dyed, reconstituted or imitation stone. That is our difference.
