Smooth, rounded and polished to a soft shine, lapis lazuli cabochons show the stone at its most natural, with nothing to distract from the color. A cabochon is shaped and polished rather than faceted, with a domed top and a flat or slightly domed back, a cut traditionally used for opaque stones like lapis to display their color and pattern.
This part of our Special Collections focuses on finished pieces built around the cabochon and the doughnut, a round polished stone with a center hole. You will find a lapis lazuli doughnut pendant and a malachite doughnut pendant for a green alternative, the Yemanya lapis doughnut pendant, and a lapis doughnut pendant with a sterling silver crown and bail. For jewelry makers, loose lapis lazuli cabochons measuring 16 mm x 12 mm are ready to set into a ring, pendant or pair of earrings.
A doughnut pendant is easy to wear on a silk or leather cord for a relaxed look, or on a silver chain for something more polished. Silver fittings are made in 950 sterling silver. If you are looking for tiles, larger stones or more loose cabochons, visit our Lapis Lazuli Cabochons, Tiles and Stones collection.
Every stone is natural, so the blue tone, white calcite veining and golden pyrite flecks vary in each piece. Our lapis lazuli cabochons are cut in our family workshop in Santiago, which has worked this stone since 1972.
